The purpose of the intent to strike vote is to give the employer notice that the bargaining unit is indeed united in its efforts to obtain a
reasonable and fair contract as proposed by their representatives.
It gives notice to the employer that the bargaining unit members are seriously supporting the recommendation of the possibility of going out on
strike as a unit if the two (2) parties do not come to agreement within ten (10) calendar days after the filing and receipt of the intent to strike vote.
The notice of intent to strike must be sent and received at least ten (10) calendar days before the actual start of a strike. It must be sent to the
following three (3) groups:
1.
The Illinois Education Labor Relations Board
2.
Employer (Sherrard CUSD # 200)
3.
Regional Superintendent (Rock Island Regional Office of Education)
